Off Schedule - New Goal 30,600

BEACHED!!! Ok, I was going to add a picture of a beached Orca to this post to represent me being beached at the end of last week thank to my malfunctioning head phones and my trip to the UC, but when I looked at them I got sad.  Poor black fish getting stuck on land.  That, just isn't right.  A Santa standing on the beach it much better and put a little bit of a smile back onto my face.  Well, I was beached at the end of last week and it cost me my swim goal for the month.  Ok, well and the holiday schedule around the gym and my land workouts.  I have to trade two swims for land locked work outs on Christmas and New Year's Eve.  Such is life.  Plus, I can't think of a better thing to start off Christmas than a nice long walk with the Girl.  I know she will like it, and I will enjoy it as well.  Then again if it rains, ah shit, well we will cross the bridge when we come to it.  Who knows maybe I get a couple of extra rest days.  So the nurse who worked on getting the ear p

The Dumbass Move of the Day: Holiday Edition, A Trip to the Urgent Care

The Dumbass Move of the Day: Holiday Edition, A Trip to the Urgent Care 10 days or so to Christmas and well on my way to my goal of 37,400 yards in the pool. Then you have a night like tonight. Maybe it’s fitting. Perhaps it’s Ka’s way of reminding me shit talking to one’s self and negative thinking is still putting bad vibes out there in the world and Ka will always make you it your dues. I was rolling along. Feeling great about myself personally. Working hard on my recovery and health. Working out 7 days a week. Five of those in the pool. Things were rolling right along. Then I started to get angry. I was angry at the people swimming near me because they were faster than me. I was angry because people are idiots on the road. I was angry that no one listens to me during the day and we are forced to relive the same bullshit over and over like ground hogs day. So, Billy b being Billy b wouldn’t you know started talking shit. Like a truly passive aggressive midwesterner I didn’t say an

It’s the 1,800 Pyramid

Image
It’s the 1,800 Pyramid Tuesday’s have been pyramid day for a while now. I can’t remember when I started pyramids this fall, but I do love them and the challenge they present me in the water. It started at 1,000 yards and has grown to just over a mile. The last two weeks have been hard cranking it up to 1,800. I’m pushing harder and harder in the water. Pushing this hard makes it hard for me to breath on my turns. The 1,800 pyramid should be easy to track my laps. It’s simply lengths of the pool in the following order: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. Easy right? No. Not easy at all bc my mind gets in the way of my tracking. I get all pissed off when the 60 year old man in lane 5 goes flying by me on his sprint, or when the older lady in lane three cruises on by. I get so frustrated I’m not faster regardless how hard I am working. It’s easy for me to forget as far as I have come in the last year these folks are still half my size and I am still swimming for two people not one. So,

If Die Hard is a Christmas Movie then is Gremlins?!

Image
Does timing of a movie make it a Christmas movie or does the spirit of the movie make it a Christmas movie? People say all the time that Die Hard is a Christmas movie. They list reasons like: Takes place at Christmas Has Christmas Music Christmas References There are presents Santa Claus makes an appearance Snow Goodwill toward men All argument I have seen for Die Hard. Look I even gave in last year and watched it and you know what I get it. I can see some of the arguments. So, now let’s take the same set of logic and apply it to Gremlins. Which I sat down and tonight (Thursday December 9, 2021), I mean after the football game was terrible tonight. Takes Place at Christmas : That’s a big 10-4, it takes place during the Christmas season. Most of the action taking place much like Die Hard on Christmas Eve. Has Christmas Music : Lots and lots of Christmas music. Hell there are even Gremlins who go Christmas Caroling at that old bat Mrs Deagles right before they send her for a joy ride in

The Holiday 37,400

My beard isn't quite that white these days, but man do I have a lot of white in it.  It also isn't as long as how Santa is rocking his beard.  Also, I won't my mustache would l never twirl up like that on the ends.  However, I am a lean mean swimming machine this December.  I tried to limit my swimming this month, one of the colder months of the year.  However, I just can't do it.  I am swimming five days a week, and I love it.  I love seeing all the Christmas lights out on Tesla road on the way to pick up the girl.  I love swimming when it is foggy.  I love swimming when there is no business being out in the water because it is less than 50 degrees outside. However, you do what you love.  I love the water.  I love the swim.   Also, I once had a Coach tell me if I wanted to do something, really do something, then write it out, tell who ever would listen and then go do it.  I took the approach with The Buddy System, but I have sort of shied away form it over the last f

The Best Christmas Gift Ever...

It is December 7, so I have to wish a Happy Birthday to Mom Carol.  I love you Mom and I as Dad would hope up and down and scream “Have Man More!  Have Many More!” Christmas time is that magical time of the year where we all get to sit back and reflect on all the wonderful things in our life.  For me it being December 7, it also means I am 6 movies into that crazy time of the year where I watch a Christmas Movie every day from December 1, to the end of the day on December 25.   So far I have watched in the following order: 8-bit Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon), A Boy Called Chrstmas, Love Hard, El Camino Christmas, and Midnight at the Magnolia.  Also, I have been watching Hawkeye, which lets face it is going to MCU’s first Christmas Classic.  So far Love Hard is by far my favorite Holiday movie I watched this year.  There were a couple of parts that just made me laugh out loud.  I think it is a sweet movie as well, exactly what I want in a Holiday Movie.  Midnight a
