Billy and the Bullet Introducing the Silver Bullet: Van Nicholas Titanium Built De Badge Frame 54 CM Ultegra di2 component 11 Speed Cassette 11-34 Crank 50/34 10/18/2022 the day I pulled the trigger on a new bike.  New for me, it was a used bike that someone wasn't riding, but it was Titanium and that made me feel really good about it.  Titanium light but strong.  I am a man who needs himself a strong bike.   I knew even before I bought the bike that I was going to name it the Silver Bullet.  how could you not.  That machine is super sweet and it is going to be fast, thus, it needs a name fitting for it, and what better than to name it after the best flavored water to every come out of the rockies?   Although, I bough the bike on the 18th, life has a way of getting in the way of things.  Well life, and work, and oh ya the fact it is lower than 70 degrees now in California and I think it is the coldest winter ever.  So, the Bu...

“Never Ignore Your Instinct And You Can Always Push Harder. I Get Inspired When I Think About People Who Have Pushed Their Bodies To The Limit” – Rachel Atherton “Pain Is Still The Friend That Always Tells Me The Truth” – Chris Froome " Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride " President John F. Kennedy I told the Beav on the way to Bike the Bridges that I thought I might be a masochist.  By the end of this blog, you might just agree with me.  For, I have ridden the mighty Moon Worm, yes, but I don't want to stop there.  I want to climb higher, and father.  The hills call to me, asking me to come up.   It can't be coincidence that while sitting in my doctors office he would encourage me to ride up a huge hill and that while we were standing at Bike the Bridges Beerfest that same hill would be discussed as a potential next challenge.   I think we call that in my experience KA.   The truth is I want to ...

Black Muddy River, In the Dark     Stop for a moment and see this in your mind’s eye. To men, both exhausted, driving back from Bike the Bridges. The two are about five miles from the passenger’s house. The passenger has become quiet as he looks out the window at the hills the separate Livermore and Tracey. He is thinking about how he has been up there and road those hills. He thinks about the hill he road today, but most he gets lost in the thought riding by those windmills. He stares off into the distance tired but pleased. Proud of his accomplishes from a week ago and proud of what h...

Answering their call…

The Corner of Flynn and Patterson Pass Answering their call…   The Sirens I knew it was only a matter of time before the sweet songs of the Sirens called me home.   For weeks or has it been months they have called to me.   Asking me to come.   Ever since, the first time I took my car up Altamont Pass Road and went right on Carroll Road and crossed over 580 on Flynn Road those Sirens have called to me.   They have asked me to come forth and present myself, to come to them and stand true and ready.   Those damn sirens and there sweet, sweet songs, calling to me, telling to come, come and climb.   To test my endurance and stamina.   Come to us Billy b and climb us, climb the hills of the Altamont Pass.   The combination to answer the call of the Sirens came together this week.   First, when I was able to ride all of Greenville Road without going using all my gears, and a corporate mental health day on Friday September 23. ...
