The Escapement

Image
Billy b at the book store…. Not the best selfie    The Escapement The Escapement is a Sci-fi novel by Lavie Tidhar.  It was the first book I read for a Sci-if book club I joined here in Bloomington.  However, I am not here to talk about the novel or review it.  I think it was worth a read, but that is something for you to decide for yourself.  No I am here to talk about the fact that I left the house and went out to a book club.   The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome or something like that.   Truth, I can’t continue to sit on my couch every night and expect for my life to be anything other than ordinary.  Unless, I am really lucky and guessing from the Mega Millions drawing last night I am not.  As someone one almost a billion dollars and I won four, so a beautiful bride and a bunch of friends aren’t just going to come knocking on my door as I watch another Superman TV s...

Settling in….

Image
I can’t believe how long it has been since I sat down to write.  I have thought about it, but then I think what I have to say is foolish and I step away from it.  Like anyone wants to read a blog about my new nice rack.  Living back in Indiana is going great.  I think I am really close to hitting my stride.  Kona as you can see above is doing really well.  That was a picture from her last walk with her new Dog walker Basil.  Yes, her name is Basil.  Not sure if her parents were hippies, yuppies, or chefs, but I am sure it has to be one of the three.  She is no Ross, or at least not yet.  Kona seems to go back and forth between parking at her and seeing her as a new playmate.  I like Basil because she is an accounting major at IU, and being a former accounting major myself I know we are good people.  Kona has loved the season changes.  She loves snow.  That crazy dog will just go outside in it and shove her face straig...

Welcome to the Family Nebula!

Image
Welcome to the Family Nebula!     I won’t do a lot of blogs about cars.  I am just not a car guy.  I know you put them in R to go backwards and D to go forward.  Other than that, I don’t know a whole lot about them other than I think this looks cool and that doesn’t.  So, writing about cars would be out of my element.  However, today I am going to write a little bit about the newest member of my family and that is Nebula.     Nebula is a 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy in Moonlight Cloud.  Which is to say she is a very dark blue that looks almost black.  Her paint job makes her look like she has thousands of little stars in her.  She is pretty much a blue badass, much like a certain Guardian of the Galaxy who also goes by the name Nebula.  So, when I went with a blue car, I knew I had to name her after Nebula.  Is my car as hot as the person plays Ne...

Back Home Again....

Image
I am back home again in Indiana.  When I say I am back home again, I mean it!  I am currently living in my Mom's basement.  48 and living in Mom's basement, isn't that the dream?  Maybe if you are a serial killer.  Actually, I tease.  I always have a nice time with my Mom.  Here place is super nice and Kona and have been very welcomed guests. The Trip back across the country wasn't awful.  It had some moments that weren't so great like when we got hit by a giant cone that semi crushed.  However, overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  Things really happened at warp speed at the end.  I am not sure where the time went.  The move was moved up by a day because of weather issues.  So, when I picked my good buddy Chip up at the airport in Oakland on the 19th we just started the journey back across the country.   Leg 1 of the journey we went from Livermore to Reno.  So, we loaded up the Dodge Durango...

100 Miles and riding… the 3F’s Century Ride

Image
100 Miles and riding… the 3F’s Century Ride   Funny thing is I writing you from my shed. No shit, I’m sitting on the table in my little shed out back of my house. Things have gone from moving double time to light speed now.    The movers are here. A day early. Storms across the Rockies lead them to asking if I could do the move a day early. Dios Mio! I thought I was ready.    So, this is the blog you get, instead of the blog, I wanted to write:). I’m afraid if I don’t do this right now, I’ll be so wrapped up in the trip across country that, I’ll never get this done.   The Ride:   There couldn’t have been a better day weather wise for riding 100 miles! It was perfect. I think the high was 78 degrees last Saturday in Colusa.   The 3F’s is a very small event. Nothing like the glitz and glamour of that we found in May at the Wine Country Century. Bigger doesn’t mean better, it was just different.    We started out on our tour of Colusa ...

"We're in the endgame now."

Image
Post Ride Picture forgot take a riding shot, it was 92 out so forgive the sternum bush   "We're in the endgame now."  Dr. Stephen Strange, Avengers: Infinity War    “The board is set, the pieces are moving. We come to it at last, the great battle of our time.” Gandalf the White, Return of the King     I don’t think Dr. Strange could have summed it up any better.  We’re in the endgame now!  As the other great Wizard I know also said so eloquently the board is set and the pieces are moving, but instead of coming to the great battle of our time we are coming to an apex point in our timeline: we are less than a week from the 3F’s Century Ride and less than two weeks from when the movers arrive to finish the packing and we leave for Indiana.  We are indeed without question in the endgame now.     90% of the house is packed up.  Almost all the furniture is gone.  After I finish here, I w...

Time is short now… Lots of pictures and videos this week!

Time is short now… Lots of pictures and videos this week!   We are in October.  Time is short now we are 13 days out from my Century and about 18 days out from me leaving for Indiana.  Wow! Where does the time go?  Chip has his ticket to fly out.  The movers are scheduled.  I am closing tomorrow on the California home and on Friday we close on the Indiana home.  Really where does the time go?   Last Saturday was blow your legs out day!  LOL!  That is what is felt like.  The directive was to ride about the same distance and the prior week but add more climbing to it.  So, it took all my stoogely cunning to get a ride mapped out that was approximately the same distance but added more climbing. The issue is to match up the distance with the climbing.  Getting one or the other isn’t the problem, getting them, both lined up now that was a bit tricky, but I did it, I just ha...
