Dreaming of a Life Less Ordinary

This movie I liked.  I liked it a lot.  I am a huge fan of the original X-files series.  This movie reminded me a little of that, a little of the original War of the Worlds movie, and little of Twilight Zone.   There is something epically gritty in the way it was filmed.   Your mind can’t really register that you are watching a movie that was just made, this must have been something made in the late 60’s or 70’s, which I think adds to the fun of the movie.   The characters I like.   This is something that is super important for me to really connect with a movie.   Most of the characters I really like and most of the movies I really like are based on how much I would actually want to hang out with the characters in the movie.   There is a reason why Supernatural and Psych are my favorite shows.   I think Dean and myself would make an epic tag team.   I think we are both extremely complicated older brothers.   I think he i...

I should have known.  I really should have known what I was doing to myself when I sat down with my In and Out Burger last night and couldn't decide which movie to watch that I was going to pick a bad one because in the end I selected the classic movie I was most uninterested in watching.  Metropolis by all accounts is a top 5 sci-fi movie on both lists I have been going by and while the experience I had with it ranged from being board silly, to talking to myself about what was going on, and then talking to Kona about what was going on, to mildly enjoying it, the path to get to the end of this film was an endurance contest.  At 2 hours and 28 minutes this marathon movie was first screened in 1927, in Germany, and it was a silent film, so really did I expect to be fully entertained?  No, that is probably why I didn't want to watch it to begin with.  Honestly, I can imagine some of the effects were beyond its time.  It doesn't look terribly cheesy.  It i...
