The Times They Are a Changing:

When?

I am leaving California on a high note or at least a long one.  The plan and timing are for me to leave California around October 20th.    This is approximately 6 days after my Century Ride in Sacramento.  I can’t think of a better way to spend my last couple of months in California than finishing up the training for my 100-mile bike ride and I can’t think of a higher note to leave on than finishing such an awesome event.

Anyone who has been reader of this blog knows that I have dedicated much of this year to cycling.  I am on the bike usually 4 days a week.  Usually, it is three days indoors on the TACX with Justified or Futurama on in front of me.  Then on weekends, a long ride with the Beav.  So, I see a lot of the California countryside each weekend, it is amazing.  For me it is the best way to say good-bye.

Things are already in motion.  I have pretty much sold my home, hoping to finalize the paperwork on that today.  I have moving estimates from cross-country movers for both my personal effects and my Snowflake (my 2012 Chevy Volt).  I have determined what I will be taking and what I will be leaving behind.  Anyone need a kitchen table, couch, or bookshelves?

As I mentioned earlier, I have been looking for homes in Bloomington for a long time, with about 16 favorited right now.  I hope to find my dream house when I will be in Btown Mid-September.

Then it is just a matter of scheduling the move with the movers.  Getting my good buddy Chip a plane ticket to come to California since he is going to drive Kona back across the country with me.  Packing up the house and having every ready to go.  I guess I still need to map out the trip home.  I am thinking it will take about 6 days. I think Kona isn’t going to be the best travel companion.  She is very calm in the back seat, she never tries to come to the front seat, but she runs laps back and forth and doesn’t really lay down and relax, so it is going to be interesting.

My number one goal is to be in my new place and unpacked on my 48th birthday.  Aggressive yes, but doable.

It is crazy to me that this is really happening, but I am super excited, and I can’t wait!
