Here we go again...
We failed last year when we went to Santa Rosa and tried to do the Tour de Fuzz. It doesn't matter how many times I tell myself I couldn't do anything about my seat post cracking at mile seven, it feels like unfinished business. On one hand I feel like the course got the better of me. On the other hand I didn't see my goal through to completion. Now, I get it, life is about the journey not the destination. I wouldn't change anything about last summer, and my return to cycling. Even with that being said though, I feel like there is unfinished business up there. So, on May 7, 2023 I am going back to Santa Rosa with the Beav (and hopefully Rachel too), not to mention the rest of the Evil Empire (Mark and Emily) and I amgoint to take my second attempt at doing a metric century and ride 63 miles. My, my, my, the cows of certainly come home to roost. Wait, what...
No, I am really excited about going back up there and challenging myself. I am also really looking forward to getting the Evil Empire back together for another ride. That will be super swell. The 63 mile ride will be about 6 weeks after my first formal ride of the year, which is 45 miles in Calaveras County on March 19th. (Shit that is like two months from now).
It is a good thing that the Neo has been kicking my ass recently. Yes, yes, I had another amazing ride yesterday couple with a huge bite me zone moment, when I literally started screaming FUCK at the top of my lungs two or three times in a row, scaring my dog and feeling like a general psycho because I couldn't get my Watts up to where they needed to be. I am telling you I think the programmer of those rides might be trying to kill me. I kid of course and as my co-workers always tell isn't that what you are paying for? I love the challenge and I push myself really hard. However, I do probably need to stop screaming at the Neo, b/c poor Kona probably thinks I am yelling at her. However, I do love the workouts. However, I should be happy that even though I felt like riding in cement, I did, still get my star for that portion of the workout. Note to self order some workout tools... Is it a note to self when you write it in a blog? Anywho...
So, here we go again, ready to start living for the rides. I have such a huge year of riding planned ahead, it is really good to get things put onto the calendar and watch the year start to take shape. How exciting!! I even got some new bike equipment that I can't wait to get outside and try. I got the Edge 830 bundle with heart rate monitor and Rally X100 power pedals. Thanks Xmas gift cards :D This weekend is being set aside to learn how to use them and how to put them to use.
