Triathletes Journal: 50 Days until Race Day

Sunday (50 Days until Race Day):  To do: 600 Swim easy + Physical Therapy in Heated Pool

PBJ swim - 6 x 25 easy free, followed by 3 x 100 IM, 6 x 25 easy free

Physical Therapy - going to walk for 10 minutes, followed by side shuffles for 5 minutes, then do an array of stretching and strength exercises

I am pretty tired though.  This is 10th straight day of either a pool therapy session or a workout.  The last two nights I have woken up with back pain and have had to get up and take Tylenol.  My back is so much better than it was but it is still giving me issues and it just ticks me off.  I am really thinking I will only be doing the swim in Kona, but I am not giving up hope.

Saturday (51 Days until Race Day):  Swim 1200 + 38 PT Work

Yesterday I did the team workout on my own.  I just couldn't get up and make it to training, I will one of these days.  I did 4 x 50 warm up, follow by 2 x 50 drills four time.  This was followed up by 4 x 100 free. I finished with 1 x 200 breaststroke.  I don't know why the drills are so hard for me.  They never were before, but now they are killing me.  It is very hard for me to maintain my breathing when I am drilling.  I feel short of breath all the time and in a damn near panic state.  I am not sure why.  I hate it.  Overall every since I went to bilateral breathing on freestyle I have been panicky about my face in the water.  i can do 200 to 400 breaststroke no issue but my face comes out of the water.  Frustrating.

Friday (52 Days until Race Day):  Worked out with trainer and walked .82 miles with little to no back pain.  Came home and did some exercises and followed those up with some good stretching.

Thursday (53 Days until Race Day):  The 1850!  I honestly not sure if this was a mistake in the tri training app or not.  The on your own training jumped from a 900 to a 1850, which is more than double, which is crazy.  However, I had not choice but to give it the ole college try.  74 minutes after starting it, I had accomplished the goal.  I know one thing for certain swimming distance when you are over 500 lbs sure does take a while to get it done.  I also took more rests than what was recommend.    instead of 10 second rests, I took 20 seconds and sometimes up to 40 seconds, but I did it.  I was happy to see that I could do it. I should say I was happy to see that I could still do it.  It was a good swim.  I felt pumped up and jacked after words.  I closed out with a two hundred breast.  However, just really happy that I got it done.
